I SALUTE SMART GILAS PILIPINAS

After two and half decades, the Philippines reached to the semifinals of FIBA Asia. During the tournament Smart Gilas Pilipinas lost only one game against China on the first round and lost against Jordan on the semis. The last hope was for them to win the bronze medal against the Team of Korea.

It was a good start for our team. I even thought they will win the the third place. Here are their missed opportunities: low field goals percent of Korea, 14 point lead, 6 point lead within the last 5 mins, free throws of Williams, rebound and free throws of Lassiter. Korea succeeded to win the 4th quarter by a 2 point lead (Final score 68-70). And we lost for the third time against Korea. It was a heart breaking lost!

MY REAL EMOTIONS:

Sayang talaga! Naiyak ako sa pagkatalo ng Pilipinas dahil simula pa lang ng laban ay pinakita na ng Gilas na maipapanalo nila ang laro at maiiuwi ang Bronze Medal sa bansa. On the few seconds remaining my mom and I really cheered for our team. Pinagdasal namin na lahat ng free throws ay mashoot ng Pilipinas pati narin ang last 3 points shot ni JV Casio, yun nga lang di pumasok. At nakakapanghina na pati si Casio ay nghinayang sa tira na yun at napaiyak na lang siya.

"DEFEAT IS NOT THE WORST OF FAILURES. NOT TO HAVE TRIED IS THE TRUE FAILURE."

Nevertheless finishing 4th place in Fiba Asia is not easy and bad. The last time our country made it this far was in 1987.

On the brighter side, nobody expected Philippines to go this far. Hands down to the team for making it to the FINAL FOUR! I'm sure that all the teams who played against Gilas have a great RESPECT on the team. And I wish that ALL FILIPINOS will show the same. Those men showed that they can fight on the big teams in Asia. THROUGH SMART GILAS TEAM PILIPINAS we were able to be recognized once again in the map of world class basketball. 

I want to thank all Smart Gilas Pilipinas Players Team Captain Chris Tiu, JV Casio, Jimmy Alapag, Kelly Williams, Ranidel de Ocampo, Andy Barroca, Marcio Lassiter, Chris Lutz, Asi Taulava, Mac Baracael, Japeth Aguilar and Marcus Douthit FOR ALL THE HARD WORK, FOR THE HEART, FOR MAKING OUR COUNTRY PROUD!

- Only 10 assist for Philippines and 13 turnovers that resulted to 13 points by Korea
- 3 point field goal percentage (35%) is higher than 2 point field goal percentage (33%)
- Kelly Williams with 9 points and 11 boards but missed 2 key free throws
- Marcio Lassiter with just 1 point but grabbed 9 rebounds
- Both teams with a low Free Throw Percentage, PHI (59%) and KOR (61%) but Korea made their free throws in the end game
- Biggest lead of Philippines was 13 points
- Chris Tiu and Chris Lutz fouled out of the ballgame
- Japeth Aguilar did not play this game

Dapat yung concert gaganapin noong August pero sa pagkakatanda ko dahil ata sa sama ng panahon kay minove yung concert date ng Sept. At yung ibang estudyante binenta yung ticket nila sa murang halaga, baka yung iba tinamad na pumunta at noong araw na mismo ng concert umuulan, its their lost, SAYA KAYA NOONG CONCERT kaIt's been a year since I was able to watch Parokya Ni Edgar on stage. I always check on their Facebook Fan page http://www.facebook.com/parokyaniedgarofficial or even their twitter accounts to see if they have a gig that fit my sched and accessible for me. :) Finally I was able to find out that they will be having a concert at Lyceum of the Philippines University. and right away I asked some of my High school barkada who are studying there and they did updated me if outsiders are allowed to watch the concert and how much is the entrance fee. :) 

hit muntik na umulan. Buti na lang noong nagsimula na ang PNE tumigil na ang ambon...At yun ang unang concert na napuntahan ko na di masyado madami ang nanuod. pero masaya parin syempre mas importante sa akin yung pagtugtog ng PNE kaysa sa manunuod ng concert. :)

 The concert ended at  around 9pm and we waited for the band to get out of the waiting area to have an autograph or picture with them. However we failed but not with their drummer. :)

Kay DinDin na lang kami nakapagpapicture kasi ang higpit ng security ni Chito Miranda pero nahawakan ko naman yung kamay niya! at ang lamig niya, hindi ko lang sigurasdo kung siya yung malamig o ako. hahaha. :) at nakita ko si DinDin na naiwan sa stage at lakas loob na akong lumapit para magpapicture. Mabait naman yung ibang security kasi sila pa nagsabi sa akin na "Sige, magpapicture ka na" at nakakamayan ko pa siya. :)

Since I found out about it I wanted to share my experience on one of their concerts I've attended. Some part of my post is in Filipino because I just copied and pasted the description of the album on my fb account. It's the lazy me plus I know I will have the hard time translating it all in English. So bare with me. haha. :)

Afternoon that day while rehearsing for our competition for speech choir, somebody knocked on our door and giving away tickets for a concert. And since it's for free were like "Ate ako na lang!", the catch is "at andun ang Parokya ni Edgar" and I quietly approach the girl who's giving away tickets and I said "ate wala na bang ticket?" and OHYEAH! She handed me four more tickets! THAT GIRL IS AN ANGEL THAT DAY! :)

However the concert will happen the evening that same day and I didn't even ask permission to my parents. What's even worse I have only 200 pesos on my wallet. 

The last time I was able to watch their concert live was when they celebrated their anniversary at Myx and I was still on my sophomore year during HS. So why miss this opportunity? :)

PAROKYA NI EDGAR at Ultra, Pasig City

there was a technical problem while their singing Buloy but the crowd sang half of the song.

MY REAL EMOTIONS: 


PAROKYA NI EDGAR is the coolest band ever kahit dalawang beses nagkaroon ng technical problem, CHILL parin sila. MAHAL NA MAHAL SILA NG CROWD dahil kalahati ng kanta ay kinanta namin noong nag brown out. Pinagpaalam pa nila kung pwede lumapit ang crowd sa stage at go naman ang crowd. ASTIG TALAGA! napaka sweet nila sa crowd dahil namigay pa sila ng water at umikot pa si Vinci sa crowd. Sayang lang dahil hindi naki sabay si CHITO! huhu. pero LOVE NA LOVE KO PARIN SILA. Waiting for the next concert na mapapanuod ko sila. :)
